Police said that the accused assaulted Pushpa Palve, his mother-in-law on the Hadapsar police station. The shocking incident took place on Saturday at around 8.10 pm. According to a report in the , the accused has been identified as Mangesh Mahada Tare (30), a resident of Wadgaonsheri. Tare was arrested by Hadapsar police for allegedly attacking his mother-in-law with a knife. Gokule said that Puspha and her husband had come to the police station along with their daughter to file a domestic violence complaint against Tare.
